is it necessary to paint the inside of the coop? and if yes, do i just use regular house paint? also, is it ok if my ramp to the coop is a little steep? dimensions- 4ft. long ramp going 2.5 feet off of the ground. I figure that i can just put the little "steps" (strips of wood) closer together, right?

    No need to paint.

Steep steps are fine. They'll figure out how to get up there.

    Welcome!

Lots of people do paint the inside with a semi gloss or gloss because it makes cleaning easier. But, no, there is no need at all.

I painted the insides of my coop with a semi-gloss after about a year with my chickens and found it really does help with the clean up. I recommend an earth-tone paint if the poop stains are going to be an issue (I admit it, I'm a clean freak). Do you have to? Nope. I've heard the paint can make them sick if they eat it but so far nobody's been chewing down on the walls.

I like your idea of painting the inside, I also am a neat freak and just want to be able to clean it fast and easy.

Paint or not, it's your choice, chickens won't care. Might have a small landing at the entrance to the coop at the top of the steps, they'll figure it out.
