is it okay for baby chicks (1 week old) to eat fresh, boiled corn?

I have 4 one week old chicks being raised by their mamma hen. i wanted to give the mom an ear of corn left over (just boiled on the cob) as a treat and was wondering if that would be okay for the chicks to have since they will inevitably eat some also!

are they outside free ranging?

or do you give them grit?

they are in a large run. i live in the high desert so there is lots of natural grit in the sand.
