Is it okay to feed chickens basil? Just curious... Basil is the only thing we got around to planting this year in the garden and we have a lot of it. My girls would love the new treat.......

I grow several varieties of basil and mint. I trim it when it becomes overgrown and throw in the run...adds a wonderful smell. I leave weeds/grass/etc. that I pull from garden in the run for a day or two, then rake and put in the compost pile.

Dumb chickens. Try making pesto sauce with it and serve it over pasta; I bet they'll eat it then. I certainly would!
