Is it possible to color sex pekins when they hatch?

I have a drake pekin and I've looked for an adult pekin for him but I've had no luck. I'm now waiting for the feed stores to get there ducks in. Since I have not seen a day old pekin I was wondering if you can color sex them. I know you can do that with some breeds. I can vent sex the ducks but if I don't have too I wouldn't mind.

Another question. I know you can vent sex day old chicks but how long can you do that? I mean..... till they are 4 days old? 5..... can you do it for the first week? I don't think it can be done after a week but I could be wrong. Does anyone know?

Sadly ...no... Vent sexing is the best way with a Pekin early- or else you have to wait until the voice will indicate the sex. It is easier when they are youngest- but that doesnt mean it cant be done as they get older- but accuracy may also be effected.

Thanks Duckyfromoz. Amazing how some birds you can tell them apart by color and some you can't. I wonder what the purpose is of that? So mothers can't discriminate amongst there young???? ...... lol.
