Up here in Washington state we have very fickle weather ( haven't had any snow since early December) and it is kind of warm but when I wake up in the morning there is a thin layer of ice on the pond and my ducks have started setting up nests. But we haven't gotten any eggs yet. What should I expect?

Domestic ducks do not seem to be in tune with the seasons. They also may set up nests weeks before laying, so just keep watch, and be sure they get calcium either from layer feed or free choice oyster shell or both.

POssible eggs could be coming, you never know. Usually, my scovies stop October-ish and resume come Feb, last year i had one set a nest in February. Fun times.

Thanks everyone, for your help. I think I won't be getting eggs very soon. There was over an inch of ice on my pond today (I broke it so my ducks could swim) and reports of possible snow.
