You could post your photos at "what breed or gender is this." Silkies are extremely difficult to sex before 4-5 mos. of age and sometimes not till they crow or lay. Silkies can be slow to start laying. My friends didn't start before 7-8 mos. old.

G’Day from down under sarahlouise30 [IMG] Welcome!

I do not want to dampen your hopes, but I am leaning towards male on the splash, mainly due to the streamers coming through. However, I am definitely not an expert and please do not make any decisions based on that.

Besides the Breed & Gender Forum to which you have been given a link, you might also want to try on this active Silkie Thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/297632/silkie-thread

I hope my gut is wrong!

I also hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures that feature our feathered and non feathered friends [IMG]

I hope both turn out to be girls, it would be hard to give one up if it was a male.

    Best of luck to you!
