Is my barred rock really a black australorp?

    I got this chick (a week old) from the feed store where they said it was a barred rock. As you [hopefully] can see from the picture, her wing feathers are all black except for the two at the end which are all white. I got another barred rock chick whose feathers have very slight but noticeable barring on her wing feathers. I searched "barred rock feathers" and saw that BR feathers are NOT solid black or white. Did I end up with a black australorp?

    I would say yes you did get a black australorp, though it could be a black plymouth rock (not likely, I dont think hatcheries do this variety) but I suppose time will tell :)
