    Hello BYC Family!

So ive been pondering for a while if my beautiful boys are mixed breeds. They are supposed to be BO's, but they have pretty dark feathers among their buff colored ones, and ive been seeing quite a few pics of BO roosters lately, and theyre not as dark as mine, so it made me wonder? I wont love them any less if they are not total BO's but I was curious about what the community thought? The pic by their waterer is when he was still a young pullet. Wanted to get a comparison.

    thanks all!!

Not a buff Orpington. His color is wrong. Where did you get him?

From a private breeder. I think she sells RIR's too, so I was thinking maybe he could be a mix? He is quite large and wide bodied....

It does look like they have RIR in them. They should be good layers still, and are a very pretty color.

I'd be calling that breeder, and telling her what happened. She needs to know that she sold mixed chicks so she can prevent it from happening in the future.

If you don't, it's fine. It would be more of a favor to her anyway. Breeders need to protect their reputations, because word gets around when a breeder isn't up to snuff.
