    Can anyone help please?
I have two buff orpington hens, we got these at approx 12 weeks old in September 2016. One of them has recently started behaving a bit like a rooseter, mounting other hens and calling hens over for food, however she doesn't crow.
I would like someone to be able to tell me if they look male or female please. The one acting like a rooster is the one in the front of the pic.

Definitely a rooster. How old are they now? The second one also looks like it may be a cockerel

Thank you. They are now about 9 months old. They are very similar in looks and size. Any idea why they would not be crowing?

My Orp roo didn't crow till he was six months old and separated from the hens that were higher than him in the pecking order, so if there is another rooster or hen higher than your cockerels, that may be the problem. Nothing to worry about though. They look fantastic!

Two beautiful boys. Maybe they are busy breeding hens and too tired to crow. Wouldn't that be great [IMG]
