I have 5 chickens and 1 rooster that will be 14 weeks old this coming Thursday. The Rooster has been " having fun" with 1 of the chickens. Does that mean she is just about ready to lay eggs ? Or are they just practicing ?

Just practising I think - his hormones are obviously kicking in [IMG]

When they are approaching laying age (usually 18+ weeks) you can look for common signs like squatting, bright red faces, red plump combs and wattles, and an obsession with nest boxes.
