Is my feed good enough for winter?

    I have the Nutrena Naturewise feed, and its 16% protein. I've had some pecking and picking, and I just wanted to double check that they are getting enough nutrients from their feed. They also get scraps from the kitchen.

    It is probably a balanced diet, as long as they don't get too many low nutrient snacks. They don't need more protein in the winter. I wonder if the increased picking is because they are spending more time inside the coop in winter, but I don't know what the weather is like where you live.

    Oh, I guess I should add they are used to a half a day roaming 6 acres. I live in northern Iowa, it got -10 below last night and everything has a nice blanket of snow on it.
