We built our Muscovey hens a nesting box, they love it. There is about 17 eggs in it now. None of them have started sitting yet. The last couple of nights have been around freezing. Should I worry or will Mother Nature take care of them???
Quote:Are you sure they aren't setting on them at night? I know my chicken hens do that sometimes when it gets really cold out. ETA: If the eggs don't actually freeze, they should be okay. It might bring the hatch percent down some, but I would think they would be okay.
Yes at night only which is why I am confused,?? I thought once they started sitting, they are comitted for good??
I haven't had broody ducks yet, but I do know that when my chicken hens are getting ready to go broody, they will set the eggs at night when it is getting really chilly out. I guess it's to keep them from freezing. I wouldn't worry about it, they will probably go broody soon.
