My 18-week-old Speckled Sussex hen just jumped on a bucket and let out what sounded like an attempt at a crow (or I could be imagining things). Could she be a he?

Definitely a hen. My profile picture is a Speckled Sussex rooster. I don’t have a good picture other than that right now. But she is definitely a she.

Speckled Sussex roosters have big combs, drastically different mane feathers ( I forget the real name for them), very noticeable, typically black green pinion/tail feathers, and much bigger waddles.

Found a picture. He would be a pretty typical Speckled Sussex rooster. A few of mine have had different coloring, but all of my roosters were very obviously roosters from an early age.
