So my little hen laid her egg yesterday morning and we thanked her and collected it. Then last night she acted as though she was going to lay another egg

and has been in her nest all night! She's only been laying for about 2 1/2 weeks. I figured she'd be too young to go broody? anytime you reach in to check on her she makes these horrible raptor noises and fluffs up and she'll even snap at you!!

and she's not a mean hen she's my lap baby...so any thoughts? she's my first chicken

Thanks in advance

what type of bird is she?

from what you said I would say she is broody. MY rule of thumb is that if they spend the night in the nest then they are probably broody.

Sounds broody to me. They can indeed go broody that early. More than once I've seen 5-7 month old hens with babies.

She's a silkie barred rock cross. We don't have a rooster so anything she lays isn't fertile ..do i just let her be or what do I do with the poor thing ?
