Hi y’all! This is Gertrude, she’s an Ameraucana hen and is a little over a year and a half old.

On August 12 of this year (10 weeks ago) she laid this egg:

I increased her calcium intake in hopes of helping her have stronger shells but, she hasn't laid a single egg since this weird one. She molted a few feathers about 2 weeks after she laid that egg but isn't losing any now. Is she alright? When will she start laying again, and what do I need to do to help her?

If she started molting then she could still be outta whack, and could be a while until shes ready to lay again. My ameraucanas would go so broody some wouldnt lay for 4 months in the winter. With the wether changing I wouldnt be worried mine would barely molt then stop laying for months. Some wouldnt wanna start back til spring. When she starts back her eggs should turn back to normal. That calcium you introduced should help if she was calcium deficient.

Was she laying frequently prior to the funky egg?
