Is she ready?

Hello, I have 20 ISA browns who are 16 weeks old, and today one is being very chatty, she almost sounds like she's singing the egg song.Except at the end instead of a loud ending she ends with a low long "booock". Her comb and wattles are large and red, and she squatted for me today. How long until she lays?

My isa's first ws at 16 weeks. She squatted one day, egg was laid the next. My other one was a few days after her. Good luck!

Is it normal for them to have a weird type of egg song? Or will it become normal?

I'm not sure both of mine sound different from one another though.

If she's squatting and her comb and face are red, she should be laying within the next few weeks.

Each bird has it's own "egg song". Some of mine are louder and others have a slower cackle. It all depends on the individual bird.

How long after her chatiness do you think she'll lay? Any ideas?

Update: for the past week she has been squatting and being very loud. Some others are also starting to get noisy. Can't wait for eggs!

O.M.G I heard the egg song very briefly and a few hours later I went in the coop and in one of the laying boxes there were 2 mini eggs! Right beside each other! They are from 2 of my ISA browns! This is the first time I have ever gotten eggs, so 2 in one day! This is awesome! One is perfect, but the other is a little broken because its a soft shell. I'm so happy that they laid in the boxes! I'm excited to collect some more tomorrow e BTW I don't know who laid them but I have a few that have been squatting for a while and been very vocal. They are 17 weeks old.



P.S. I'm still waiting on my other ISA browns to lay. There are 18 chickens still to lay.
