Is there a rare breed hatchery/breeder somewhere?

I know that most hatcheries have rare breed categories, but they all have the same kind in those catergories and nothing that really interests me... When you start getting into these rarer breeds like Norwegian Jaerhons, Welsummers and Rarer colored Faverolles
Marans and Orpingtons... do you have to find these one by one from individual breeder/ebay etc or is there a hatchery out there somewhere with a multitude of these rarer breeds/variations?

Your best bet is to buy hatching eggs from people here on BYC.

Sandhill has lots...but they are not sold sexed and you have to buy 25. If you're looking for QUALITY birds...your best bet is on here.

I have white standard faverolles, BTW. [IMG]

I support sandhill preservation and fellow BYC members

Quote:OOoohhh you have Orphingtons too! I take it by the pic on your site you're in Eastern Washington? A little far to pick up chicks, but a short trip for eggs so that's a possibility...

I would be interested in both Blue/Black/Splash Orpingtons and white faverolles, probably a few of each... I need to get ahold of my friend to make sure I can use her bator LOL I'm so anxious!

Keep in mind that if you need birds picked up or delivered along the I-5 corridor from the canadian border all the way down to the Mexican border my husband will be hauling goats (and now it seems some poultry) the first and second week of June. We are picking up and dropping off birds in exchange for birds and other barters/trades (since it's kind of silly to charge to haul chickens LOL)

Awesome! Yup, we're in-between Okanogan & Twisp. I will definately have BBS Orps and possibly some golden laced by this spring and I'll have to see how my whites are doing! I am always "Shopping" on craigslist on here for trades & good deals so if you transported something (or somethings) for me, I would do a swap!

alright! Well now you can extend your shopping area all the way through oregon and california, as long as the breeder or buyer is willing to meet my hubs along I-5 [IMG]

Superior Hatchery in OK has flocks of outstanding birds. Their flock manager is a long time APA Poultry Judge. The owner bought birds from all over the country from show winning flocks & these birds were selected for him by other judges.
There's also Urch/Turnland Hatchery in MN. It's smaller but they also have excellent birds. The owner, Duane Urch, is also an APA Judge.
