is this a black austrolorp rooster?

we were told this is a black austrolorp(spelling?) rooster ! this is our first time owning chickens ...

Nope. It's a silver laced something...could be a single combed wyandotte, but a full body shot would give us a MUCH better idea. Silver laced chicks and Australorp chicks look very similar when they are just a few days old...probably an honest mistake...

That is definately not a black Australorp. It sure is a pretty bird. I think it looks like a silver lace Wyandotte.

Single combed though...maybe a cochin?

does it have feathered legs?​

hatchery SLW can have single combs. thts what i got.

So can breeder birds, but that's why I asked for a body view...to be sure.

My SLW has a single comb. But that's definitely not a Black Australorp! It's a SLW.

yes it is a hatchery SLW
