I hatch this hen under a broody back in May. As a chick, she was yellow and black like a Black Australorp. The eggs came from a local farm. They don't have any Black Australorps, only BOs, BRs, EEs and RIRs. Her comb is small for 27 weeks and she not laying yet either. Any ideas?

It's possible that she's a black sexlink. I've got a few solid black home bred black sexlink Easter Eggers.

Looks just like a few of mine. Some girls are completely black, some have white on the wing tips, chest, and belly, some just have a little white on their throat.

Agreed. I've had a few BSLs that were almost solid black like the one on the left in the pic below.

Thanks. Beautiful hens. Does mine have a small comb for 27 weeks?

Black sex link birds from hatchery don't have black legs. I'm thinking Australorp. The photo to me shows white feet which is not the hatchery sex link standard or yellow.

Did you breed these? Hatch the eggs under broody? Where did they come from? That would clear up some confusion. Black sex link males are barred and female black that leak red coloring, especially around neck, as they get adult plumage. Red sex link females are yellow when chicks.

You're welcome. The comb is not necessary small. The Black Sex Links in my picture came from Ideal Poultry.
