Okay, I think I know the answer but, before I toss any eggs.
    Is this a blood ring?

I'm on day 4 with the clutch in the Brower Top Hatch Bator and had trouble with it yesterday. I started candling this morning and found many of these. I separated them in the bator so I know which ones are which.

I don't think so. It looks like a yolk to me. But I've only candled once. LOL

I hope someone answers, I have 2-3 of these myself.

Quote:If you candle an egg from the fridge they are clear, so I don't think it's the yolk. I'm afraid it's a blood ring [IMG] but, want confermation before I toss it.

Thats not like any bloodrings I have ever seen....a bloodring would be a circle of blood around the inside of the shell from where the embryo or veining died.....

Candle from the top down with a good small mag. flashlight in a very dark room....

Doesn't look like it to me either. Wish I had taken a pic of my two that were blood rings..... when lit up it looked like someone had taken a red pen /marker and drawn a big oval inside the egg. Not solid.... just a ring.

Okay, I will keep close watch to make sure they don't start seeping and use the nose to make sure they don't start smelling and recandle them at day 7 or so.

    Thank you!

Now off to finish candling! [IMG]
