So I special ordered a couple chicks and when they arrived my brown leghorn was in the box with the americauna/ Easter egger chicks so had to take the best guess as to which one was mine. Does this look like a brown leghorn chick? In the pics it’s about 10-11 days old.

Yes, it looks like a brown leghorn.... that being said there are a few other breeds that are yellow legged and have this down pattern and single comb....we're those the only breeds ordered?

Yellow legs rules out Sussex, but welsummer is one breed that can sometimes be differentiated from bl only when ear lobe color develops, especially with hatchery stock as the builds are not as useful in differentiating as with birds bred to breed standard

Yes it was the only types ordered, well and a calico princess which is new to the hatchery but that was a solid yellow chick.

It does look very similar to my Welsummer chick that I have right now.

As that is what was ordered the assumption would be this is a bl.

X2 with the above, Brown Leghorn. :D

If only Easter Eggers were in the box with your baby, then that rules out Welsummers. :)

If you ordered BL, that's what it is. If there is a possibility it could be something else, then it could be a Welsummer too. You'd have to wait until it was older.....

Please wait till 8 weeks of age when fully feathered out. You should get answers at that age, rather than guesses.
