Just asking if this light susex is a cockerel?

He hasnt starting cocking yet or anything in the morning. He's now all healed as the chickens attacked him, but thats all been sorted now.
I put him with ex battery hens which were very layed back and he's found himself 4 friends now.

Im just worried he isnt crowing, calling or anything as a cockerel should, and i must admit for a cockerel hes such a wimp, but loves attention, he'll come up to you and wont hestiate to be picked up.:idunno

Pictures below of the cockerel, new nuild, old build, healing coop for the injured, and the battery hens. (Also check out my new pen build, of course all the flock choose which place to sleep either the new one or the old) There spoilt to death these birds lol.

They now have 3 houses, 3 runs, and a massive fence run to protect them in the day, they used to free range, but they were wondering off down the road 3 miles away so i had to do something.

One black chicken is in a coop run who is recovering, she hurt her foot somehow. So i've put here in a small coop to rest from the flock as they were annoying her 24/7.

Also you see that wood there? thats the cctv camera on the outside, and trust me ive seen some amazing things. Foxes with there baby cubs, badgers, pole cats. It's an insight.

Enjoy the pictures, Im so proud of myself.

Those look like hackle feathers to me, but I have better luck telling from saddle and tail... I cant see much of the back end, but those look like some pointy tail feathers..How old is your bird?

Very nice build, by the way :)

The brahmas throw me off with those neck markings, and there's not much to that tail that what I can see....I don't know if its the resolution of the picture paired with the white backend or the fact my phone has a piece of packing tape holding the shattered glass of my phone together... 😅 hopefully someone with breed knowledge can help you out

He's 6-7 months old??
You should be getting eggs by now if it's a hen.
At the same time, I don't see any saddle feathers, which he ought to have by now if it was a roo.
He looks like he's lost a few feathers, but I would still expect to see them.
Are you sure there is no way this bird is laying and you just haven't realized it was him/her?
Has the comb been red for long? If so, how long?
The face says male to me.

Hes a few feathers on his rear, they used to be long. I've kept a close eye on it and havent seen any eggs. His combs been red for a good few weeks now also.

Ok. He's sitting in the eggbox there. Like he is laying.
My gut tells me it's a male though. Do you have a clearer side photo showing the feathers near the tail?
