I doubt it is, but I found it on the floor, not in the Chickens' nesting box. It is a tad lighter in color, it came from a Rouen duck.
You can see that it is more circular, also feels lighter.
    It is dirty...

    strange shaped chicken egg.

    Duck eggs feel waxy.

  3. I don't think they look like duck eggs. Mine are all whitish and tinted.

Is that egg brown? Ducks don't lay brown eggs. Should be creamy white or greenish. Also, it should feel smoothe and waxy (as opposed to dry and chalky like a chicken egg)

According to Feathersite, ducks do lay brown eggs. Muscovys. I will know soon--we found a huge egg yesterday but it was chalky. So maybe it was a chicken egg. If more of the same appear in the duck box --I'll know they are muscovy.

PS.. OP is very old. Revived this for the great feathersite info.

The !00% method is it waxy or dry and chalky.Lightly scratch with Fingernail and you will know right off. Some ducks lay that color egg Yep Arielle good post to ressurect. Ducks lay all different coloered eggs. It just depends on the species or breeds.
