This is my mystery chick from my MM order. I'm thinking it's a phoenix and that it is looking like a roo because it's comb is rather large and it grew wattles before anyone else. What do you think?

I think Phoenix too. We have a pretty little Phoenix hen who looks very much like that. She is one of the best chickens we have ever had!!

Chicktastic, Do you think maybe it's a hen? Did your hen have a comb this big at 6 wks.?

that definitely could be a Phoenix cockerel. the kohl around the eyes is a tell tale. also the lanky grey legs.

Can't wait to see what this one looks like in a couple of months.

I would have said EE but the comb isn't right.

My roos would keep ther heads up when sitting and walking, pullets low and out, even when walking. But your comb is big I will take a picture of our pullet tomorrow. She is the last we hatched before the hen was killed, thank goodness we saved and hatched it out as I do really love this breed. I will post again tomorrow morning with a picture for you.

Quote:the markings around the eyes, they look like eyeliner. (kohl was used by the Egyptians to keep the eyes healthy and for enhancement)
