My khaki Campbell duck eggs are supposed to have 5 more days, but is that a pip??? Is it normal to have one hatch so early?

Sure looks llike a pip to me. Usually early pippers are from heat being a little high over the average incubation, but 5 days is sure early.

It hatched! We just got home and found this! Still wet, so I assume it hasn't been long ago, or is that because it's so humid in there? Leave it in until dry and fluffy?

Oh adorable!!!! If you have a brooder set up and heated there's no reason not to, especially with it being so early. None of the others have pipped yet, right?

Actually, I'm running around right now, gathering all the brooder components from the barn. So, it's not ready yet. I was going to do that tomorrow because I wasn't expecting this so quick!

I still have three eggs in the incubator with baby. None have pipped yet.

He/she is just an impatient little thing...lol Pipped early and really didn't take that long to hatch. I've heard duck eggs can actually go closer to two days between pip and zip/hatch.

Baby is still in the incubator, but peeping loudly. I'm hoping the others can hear her and will be encouraged! :hugs

Baby has been removed from incubator because it was pooping in there. We're calling it she until we know better.
