Is This Chicken a Java, or Not?

    Hello, everyone! About a year ago I got a young chicken from a friend and I never found out the breed yet. I was thinking it may be a Java, but then I did some research and learned that this is a rare breed. Any ideas? (Pictures below) Thanks for the help! [​IMG]

    Yup, that is a duck in front of him! As you can see, there is some green/blue coloration on his feathers when the sunlight hits.

    A lot of black breeds look similar, so it is hard to tell whether he is a Java or another black breed/variety, like Australorp. However, he certainly could be--I don't see any traits in him that wouldn't necessarily be found in a Black Java.

    I agree! It is hard to tell and I wouldn't know exactly because I got him as a gift. I guess I MAY not find out.
