i was thinking of using some dog training pads for the bottom of my brooder is this ok to use?
I am thinking they will pick at them but I am not positive.
I use paper towels for the first 10-14 days and then it's pine shavings with a raised waterer.
I used dog training pads and they were great we had pine shavings under them so it was bumpy to prevent splayed leg etc. but didn't need to change the shavings, so easy!!!
New to chickens, so take this with a grain of salt.
Many (not sure if all) puppy training pads have scent applied to them in order to attract a pup to use it. Not sure if this would be a problem for chicks, especially with heat and possibly less air exchange in a covered brooder. If you wanted to go this route you might check out a medical supply store as they carry absorbent incontinence pads that are not scented(quite a bit cheaper than puppy pads also).
