Is this pasty butt?

    I have seen pasty butt many times in chicks but have no experience with it as newly hatched... It that even possible?[​IMG]

    your picture is not of the vent so it's not possible to say if it is or not, some chicks get a little poop on their down just below the vent, this isn't attractive, but it's not an issue.

    I can't remove from the incubator to take pics. I have 5 pipped. Pic is best I can do for now. This one Just hatched in the early morning hours this morning.

    Looks like its closer to where the umbilical would be, which means its probably some leftover hatching gunk. Either way, it wont hurt to leave it until your eggs are done hatching.
