Is this rooster an Easter Egger?

Discussion in 'What Breed Or Gender is This?' started by valleychicks, Jan 13, 2015.

  1. I know this is a rooster but is this an Easter Egger? He has green legs/feet and a beard but he has a rose comb. I've been told that Easter Eggers have pea combs so I'm a bit confused over his breeding.

The thing with EE is that there are no "rules" about combs, etc because they are mixed breed birds and can come from a wide variety of parent stock leading to all sorts of characteristics. Pea combs are very common in them, but other comb types can and do occur

  4. This is great news! I have EE hens but they have the pea comb plus what I was told by someone else really had me confused. Thank you!

It looks like a pea comb to me. Can you get a better pic?[IMG]

  6. It does look like the pea comb in this picture but it's tall like the rose comb. I will have to look closer at him tomorrow.

Definitely an Easter Egger rooster. The greenish legs are a dead giveaway. As Ol Grey Mare explained, because EEs are hybrids, not all of them have pea combs.

I have a rooster that is identical to yours. I did not know what he was, I got him with my barred rocks and easter eggers. I have major issues with mine, I was letting him free range but he attacked my son and is very aggressive. How is the temper on yours?
