    she should be laying soon... or crowing... never seen a hen like this - she - came to stay with me with a pale comb- pinked up two weeks ago- no eggs- (in the yard) never crowed... any clue?

    I'm no expert, but that looks like a rooster to me. I think mine started to try crowing at about four months or so ( not quite sure exactly).

    I'm sure ya'll are right- No saddle feathers or hackle feathers yet... no crow... yet... I already have a silkie male (Bennie)

    he never has puffed up or challenged 'him' ... 'his' name is fiesta... and I got another one... a pullet from Ideal...

    s/he is an EE ... but I'm sure those are hackle feathers... the BYM Fiesta and 'Roo' this EE red are the same age...

    it looks like a hen but i never seen a hen with those colors so i guess it might be a roo
