its cold out side in south florida

what should i do if my chickens have only been in warm weather and now it is going to be cold for a few days.

How many do you have? I have 24 in a well ventilated coop. I plan to let them snuggle.

low 40 s
3 chickens
that wont go in their coop they like to nest and sleep on the bar. lol.

Ours have had no problems in the low 40's, but they are heavy chickens. Buff orpingtons.
I would think you'd be fine.

Low 40s is no big deal, but I have no experience with chickens who do not go to sleep in their coop.

you may want to give them some extra scratch tonight so they can up their body temp if they need to.

40! Wow we would love that was 8 here this morning... Got room for 16 chickens, 2 dogs, 2 cats, and 3 horses? And me?

-29* here in Colorado...NO HEAT...I have several that sleep outside still even in the cold...you do not need to worry about them, if they are uncomfortable, they will go inside.
Here are a couple of pics I have been posting of two of mine, out in the sub zero wind chill...all puffed up and keeping toasty!

I have small pekins and last year it got as low as -10 and they coped fine. They seem to have more problems with intense heat than the cold.
