I've been conditioned!

It's been so hot here in Kansas - like everywhere else I guess. My chickens are feeling it too. I hate seeing them pant all day, despite lots of shade and frequent water changes. They love their fresh corn on the cob as a treat and recently I picked a mess of field corn, husked it and froze the ears. I never intended to give them frozen corn but now I've been conditioned to take a couple ears out of the freezer, cut of the kernels with a knife and the chickens go crazy for it- at least they stop panting for little while! They expect it every evening now!

The weather in NY has been oppressive too. Anything you can do to cool the down helps. And they do love fresh corn!

I've been conditioned to take out frozen grapes and or blueberries in the afternoon so they can cool off.
