I've got 9 hens (just past 12 wks old) ... Wish I had another 10 pullets....How can I add to my floc

So, I'm new at this but built a nice 12x12 coop and 12x24 pen. I started with 9 RIR pullets and 2 RIR roosters. (1 rooster was supposed to be another pullet). They were born last May 15 so they're just past 3 months old. I expect eggs around Thanksgiving.

But my concern is that I would like to add another 10 pullets and I'm under the impression that I'd have to keep the two flocks separate or the older hens would kill these new chicks.

Any advice is appreciated.

Generally you merge the 2 groups when the new ones are close in size to the older ones. There will still be some pecking while they work out the pecking order.

Is your run covered? Will they be able to get out in the winter? My coop is a little smaller, 8x16, and 20 birds would be pushing the limit during the winter.
