I know this will pass around the chicken community if it doesn't already.

My son, Kyle, was trying to get one of the little ladies to hold.

We come up to the chickens and gently grasp a tail feather so they stay still, then pick the chicken up.

The little ones are still unsure about it.

Anyway...Kyle got Feather, and grasped her tail, and she started SQUAWKING something AWFUL.

He kept trying to pick her up with the other hand, and finally, Christopher William (the new rooster), puffed his head out at him and jumped and smacked him with his wing.

I told him, "Kyle, you've just been ROO slapped!!!"

So now, I tell people I"m gonna Roo slap them, not b*tch slap them. LOL

Sorry, I know, probably dorky...but had to share a funny moment with you all.

So I've got a dorky one too. My hens like to roost on the cover that we have over our firewood. It's about 6 feet up, I'm about 5'6" so I have to reach up to get them. The other night I reached up for Annie and she started flapping away like crazy after I halfway had her, so I grabbed where I could get a grip and neither of us get hurt.....I came inside and told my husband "I just grabbed Annie by the drumsticks!"
