But this is hilarious! I just got a lavender Orpington rooster. He is currently next to the coop in a coop of his own with only wire between them so he can see the hens before being integrated. Well, when the hens saw him for a first time, TWO of the hens went right up to him and crowed! Several times in a row! I thought hens only crowed when a rooster was absent? I did have one hen crow once or twice after I got rid my rooster last year.
