I have had 5 chicks hatch so far, but the 5th one had curled toes. I made little sandwich shoes out of card and bandaids, they look rough but seem to be doing the job just fine! I'm wondering how long it will take for his/her feet to straighten? Should I also replace them daily?

I had a 3wk chick develop Curly Toe Paralysis (BYC Members were very helpful), Riboflavin deficiency. I had to separate him from the rest (38) of the brood, he was getting trampled and couldn't walk. Kept him in a small enclosure with a piece of carpet for traction under his feet with a mirror and feather duster under heat (stimulating a hen). I taped its feet/toes (never removed it), exercised his legs (up & down) making him put pressure on it, rubbed his toes. Got some PolyVisol Vitamins without the iron, 3 drops a day & mixed boiled egg yolk in his food. Feed riboflavin rich food.

It seemed like forever but it was actually 2wks, he surprised us walking! I removed the tape and continued with the vitamin drops & egg yolk for a another week. He has a funny gait but is walking and doing well. Don't give up, good luck.
