Last weekend was my 6th annual trip with girlfriends for a marathon thrift store session. We assembled at 9a for espresso (we *are* Washingtonians, after all!!) then piled into 1 car with one thought on our collective minds: cheap treasures.
We're not talking Goodwil cheap. We're talking "negotiate for lower prices at Saint Vincent de Paul" cheap. Thrifty lot, we were.
DBF gave me $18. I returned with:
$2 mocha in my tummy
$1 contribution to the driver for the bridge toll
$1 orange/red vintage Descoware trivet (predecessor to le Creuset)
$1.50 music stand
$3.50 14 canning jars, negotiated to $0.25 from $1/each
$1.50 short fleur-de-lys jar
$3 tall matching (!!!) fleur-de-lys jar found at a different store (!!!)
$2 horrid pig head photo album for white elephant gift
$0.50 crochet hook
Couple of bucks infused into my state's economic recovery in the form of 9% state sales tax.
And....
$2.50 change for DBF
I nearly bought a bread machine for $8 but decided to cheap out and see if I can get one at Goodwill for 50% off the colored price tag special. LOL
