Our 5 month old Jersey Giant died. No signs of being sick. She was fine this morning when my daughter gave them food/water, but was dead when she got home from school. The rest of the flock seem fine.
Is there anything I should be doing to the coop to prevent this from happening to our other birds?
    Wonder what killed her?

What was she eating and drinking? Did you notice any symptoms before she died? Is the rest of the flock seemingly fine? Had she laid any eggs yet? You could take her in to be necropsied.

Quote:I agree I would definitely have a necropsy done on her if at all possible.

    No symptoms of being sick.
She had not started laying yet.
The rest of the flock seem fine.
The food in the coop was layena and there is fresh water. We only free-range them when we are home because of the other wildlife critters we have.
What is necropsied? Doubt we can do that now as she was buried last night.
Are the Jersey Giants now for dying suddenly for no reason? I did read that they are prone to heart attacks and strokes de to their size, but this one wasn't even 6 months old yet
