In a previous Pheasant thread JJ tried to explain to me how to sex day old Ringneck Pheasants from the ring around their eye, I had a hard time understanding it. But now I have my own chicks to practice on! I took some pictures of them and I was hoping that JJ ( or anyone that knows how to do it) could help me tell the differance between the genders. The colours that I title them as are the colours of their leg bands.

I always just look at there legs. Males have a pen size spar.. females have none. Just have to look really close.

Quote:Are you sure that method is accurate? I just checked them and all of them have the little spurs. I think it would be very unlikely that 6 out of 6 are males

I'm no expert, but judging by their 'rings' I'd say they are males. [IMG] Hope I'm wrong.

With the Yellow and no band is it the bird or the picture that makes it hard to tell?
