Joining up from Alabama

I'm new to the board, but have raised chickens with my father for the past 7 years or so. I'm very interested in genetic aspects of breeding especially undesirable traits and their elimination from a flock. I am a student at Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama, and will graduate in the Spring of 2010 with degrees in Chemistry and Biology. We primarily raise show games, but have some experience with large breeds as well. I am mostly interested in raising black varieties while my father raises yellow birchen colored fowl.
