Jubilee project - Mr Speckles chicks - 2 1/2 wks old

Here are some updated pics of our first cross of black orp project hens (which carry the mottling gene) to Mr Speckles (speckled sussex). It does appear to be mottling and some even have red throughout. It is whiter than I expected, but still very early. I noticed some of my older mottled orps growing out are getting darker as their mature plumage is coming in, so I'm sure this will change too. Any thoughts from mottled or mille fleur folks?

Notice the one in the front has red throughout the wings. And some around the outside of the pic show the mottling on the chest.

Thanks! I'm really happy seeing the color coming in on these youngsters. It should be interesting to watch them go through their plumage changes.
