Jungle Fowl 'Ivan' pictures, Boy or Girl?

    Hand reared when he was left behind by the others at a safari park in the north west of england.

    We heated little Ivan up and he came alive, does he live with us or return to the safari park is dependant on whether it is a roo or hen. Any guesses would be welcomed.

    You should of seen him on day one when he'd dried up. I'll get the earlier pictures put on the forum from my phone.

    My girlfriend takes him everywhere.

    If Ivan does turn out to be a hen, she will be called Ivana...Ivana Lay-an-egg.

    I think the first one was 3 weeks or 2 and the other two are 5 weeks.

    Jungle fowl are the original chicken. They come from India and all our domestic chickens have come from them. They are endangered because people are releasing domestic fowl by accident in india which hybridise with the jungle fowl.

    Jungle fowl never took off because they're not good eating as they dont have much meat on them. They were probably selective bred to get our plump varieties of domestic fowl.

    im going to vote rooster for now. as it seems it had a pretty tall comb. and wattles for its age.. but question, are you sure its a jungle fowl?. never seen one with a top hat.
