so when i hatch quail i have noticed that after they hatch they love me and aren't scared, then a few days after they all the sudden they are terrified of me! it makes cleaning their cage and just checking on the little ones difficult, especially once they get wings. does anyone else experience this and is there an explanation for it?

With chicks, not quail.

A constant presence or a presence that's there at hatch is probably a mum. A huge, overhead presence that shows up once a day is a potential predator.

gotcha. its just weird because i check on them often but they seem to always forget who i am overnight after 3 days typically. i eventually regain their trust but it is difficult

Are they Button quail? That's just what they do unfortunately.
