We got our first pair of chicks today! They are sisters (supposedly). I hope they aren't lonely, but the rest of our chicks will be arriving in about a week. Until then, they'll only have each other.

The younger one, Muncie, is 2 weeks, and the older one, Muffy, is 3 weeks (supposedly. They look awful small for their ages, but then again, I'm completely inexperienced, so what do I know?)

They are Cochin/Rhode Island Red hybrids. We met their parents. Their father is a gorgeous gray cochin, and the mother is a pretty Rhode Island Red. They are incredibly docile, and just fall asleep in your hands.

Here's our first week photo shoot.

The first pic is Muncie. She's sweet, if a bit skittish. And the second one is Muffy. She's a bit older, and her wings are more developed.

So exciting! I can't wait to get the rest of them.

Congrats on the new additions - they won't be lonely as they have each other, it is only a major concern when you have just one chick.

Thanks! I'm relieved to hear they won't be too lonely. They're best friends so far :)
