I am sure this has been asked many times before but as I am rushing aroung searching I don't find this question/answer so I apologize for asking again. I have 20 Bantam eggs under 4 hens. We had planned on leaving the babies with moms but as my first (ever) baby was hatched this evening...all the hens (the ones sitting on the eggs) were pecking its head and we got scared they would kill it so I now have a hour old chick in a box with a heat lamp. What's next? When do I get feed/water to it? Thank you for your advice.

The broodies will kill each others babies. Can you separate the mommies?
If you can't, or you want to just raise it on your own. They are fine without food and water for a day, but the next day offer chick starter.
There is a lot of info on the web, UM is just one that has some chick care info at the bottom of the page.
Feel free to ask any questions here though.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I have one down....22 to go!
