My Silkie Bantams have just hatched some bought fertilised eggs. 3 out of the 6 so far. Naked neck silkie bantams X Frizzles X Aracunas. We are going to have some weird looking chickens! I am worried about how to get the baby chicks to the chick feed as the nesting boxes are about 2 inches above the nesting area. I have created a little ramp for them out of wood and carpet. Can chicks get their toenails stuck in carpet? So new to all of this!

I'm not sure I'd use a ramp at all. You'd be surprised at just how much the chicks will be able to move around. And yes, their toes might get stuck.

Welcome to BYC [IMG] Congrats on the hatch! Their toenails may get stuck in the carpet, so I'd swap that for something else. I usually put a piece of plank in front of the nest box for the first few days, as a step. After a week or so they'd be able to get in and out of there easily.
