Just joined, new to backyard chickens

I've just started raising chickens in my backyard. I grew up with chickens, cows, horses, rabbits, geese and a goat at one time. We lived on 10 acres and my mom was into all natural foods. I currently have 3 chicks about 3 weeks old. Two are Rhode Island Reds and the other is a Black Sexlink
I found out about backyard chickens from searching the web for ideas on what I needed for my babies. I finally have a backyard big enough to raise chickens and I'm really looking forward to having eggs the way I remember, nice dark yolks and awesome flavor.
I love gardening, cooking, baking, crocheting and playing with my dogs and grandchild.

I'm looking forward to being able to find answer when I need them for the chickens. I ran into someone the other day who raises chickens and he also recommended your website.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock and/or other critters, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.
