Just lost 6 of my hens to a fox

I just took a devastating blow to my flock, I lost 6 of my new hens (11 weeks old) to what I believe to be a fox attack (It could also have been a fisher cat, bobcat, or possibly a coyote...a hawk doesn't seem like the likely culprit where took 6 of them.)... They were in a pasture (that was meant to keep them fro wandering to the neighbors yard. There were feathers scattered across the lawn, no blood. There was no damage to the fence either. 2 of the hens from that flock managed to survive...so sad and very frustrating. Any thoughts on preventing this in the future would be appreciated
 
I am so sorry for your loss. An electric fence around the pasture would be your best bet. I'm assuming you had a woven wire type of fence?? Check out @Howard E page for a great how-to on erecting an electric fence.
