We keep hoping our border collie will grow up and find something else to do besides harrass cows, but that's like asking the sun to rise in the West. Hoping what happened yesterday will go a long ways towards breaking him. We took both the collie and my wolfhound on a walk around the farm yesterday and for the first time they were both off the leash. I was amazed it how well the border collie stayed right with us and didn't run off looking for cows, until we got to the back of the property. He spotted a goup of about 10 half-grown calves and couldn't help himself. He headed straight for em and wouldn't come back now matter how much we hollered. He was having a blast chasing them babies and got em all bawling. Then from over the hill, just like a band of indians on the rampage, came about 50 grown heifers running to see what was bothering the calves. They headed straight for the collie. I've never seen a dog run so fast in my life. He's been kicked by cows and disciplined by us and still insists on aggravatiing them. I've decided to let the cows hand out his punishment from now on. Maybe they'll have better luck.
