not my horse, but PLEASE READ and keep your eyes out for this mare!
Lady Diana is a 6 year old bay & white tobiano mare. She is a
half-Arabian and half-Saddlebred with about 50/50 color. She just had
her first foal, a beautiful bay and white filly, on May 19th. Last night
someone cut the fence and stole her away from her 4 day old... filly. Lady
Diana is owned by RMH Ranch in Hays Kansas and was in the p...asture (in a
pen) with her baby and several other mares with foals (in Hays Kansas).
The gate was cut and Lady Diana is the only one that was stolen. I am
attaching 2 photos of Lady Diana with her filly, and there are lots more
photos of her at http://rmhranch.com/diana.html. The Sheriff has been
called and is out getting the information right now. Once we have the
police report info, we will cross-post this with Net Posse as well.
There was a "potential buyer" that had been out to the ranch in Hays KS
to look at horses just 2 days ago, and he specifically asked about this
mare, however he was told that she was not offered for sale. He
mentioned that he worked in a feedlot somewhere close to Hays, but that
is all the information that we currently have about him. Please call
Mary Sturdy at 785-623-0025 or Rick Sturdy at 785-650-7396 if you have
any information at all. You can e-mail me here at
[email protected] or Rick & Mary at [email protected] if you
need more photos to print for flyers or anything. Also, if you are close
to Hays KS and have a mare that would nurse a baby without her momma
    please let us knowSee More

If you know anything please PM me!

I live in Derby Kansas. Right near the Wichita Ridding Acadamy. I hope they do find her. [IMG] [IMG] How can people do such a thing? [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

That sucks. Not only did they lose a mare but now they have to bottle feed the poor baby. Hope they find the mare.

In the old days this was a hangin' offense! I am so sorry for the loss of this mare. I will keep an eye out on craigslist, etc here in Tennessee.
  5. It's bad enough to steal a horse but did they have to steal a Momma away from her baby?! [IMG]

I looked thru the couple of farm & livestock papers that we get to see if any of the local livestock auctions had any horse sales coming up, The Salina sale (about 90 miles east of Hays) just had one on the 14th or the 15th of May, so they won't behaving another one for at least a month.....at least they used to have them about once a month. There is a paint horse dispersal sale in LaJunta Co on May 28th, but it's an individual selling out so I doubt they're taking any consignments for it. More than likely whoever took it stole it for themselves tho since the horse market hasn't been doing so good lately.

I thought I would update this thread. In one of our farm papers this week there was a little story that they found the mare's body in a ravine just west of the ranch the first week end of June. They think she got away when the thieves were trying to load her in a trailer, went thru a fence, cut her side, and fell in the ravine. The filly she had 4 days before she was stolen is being nursed by another mare.

Poor horse. I hope she trashed the trailer and the thiefs.
